Ariel Givens, Marriage & Family Therapy Associate
Individual, Couple and Family Therapy
Group Therapy: Women's Empowerment and Self-Care (See Below)
Hi! I am a Marriage and Family Therapist. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology, with a minor in Religion, from the University of the South and a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. My clinical experience includes working at Family & Children’s Place, IN; Baptist East Hospital; and Boys and Girls Haven in Louisville, KY. I have been in private practice since August 2013 and work with individuals, couples, and families who deal with a range of different issues. Some of these include anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief/bereavement, stress management, communication problems, trauma and family adjustment issues. I also focus on the interconnection between physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health and explore how these areas may affect ones overall well-being.
I am dedicated to creating a safe space for open and honest communication. I encourage the exploration of problematic areas in your life, as well as the examination of your personal and spiritual growth. I have experience working with all ages, from young children to older adults. I have training in art and play therapy, and can also provide life coaching and spiritual direction. I am committed to offering a sliding scale fee in order to make therapy affordable.
“Healing is an innate and integrative process that encompasses Mind, Body & Spirit. All parts of a person's life (physical health, mental wellness, emotional well-being, and spiritual beliefs and values) are interconnected and must be considered in order for genuine healing to take place. People who embrace the desire to find wholeness through healing, soon learn the importance of tending to themselves and their significant relationships. This can have a rippling effect in which people begin to accept themselves and others, tolerate difference, have compassion for humankind, and care for the environment.”
Women's Empowerment and Self Care
Through thoughtful discussion, using a variety of different means (collage, journaling, painting, mindfulness meditation, & visualization), we will be exploring avenues for Self Care that lead to Empowerment in our relationships with ourselves and others.

Deb Ogburn, REAT, CMT, A Time For Art
If something in your life is lost, broken or missing, ART can help!
I'm Deb Ogburn, creator of A Time for Art. For as long as I can remember, the arts have been my way of making sense of the world and my place in it. Art-making helped me recover from trauma and loss. It has helped me discover who I am and feel authentic. It has opened doors to connection and community. Now I am privileged to help others recover, discover and connect through creative expression.
Expressive Arts Coaching
An Expressive Arts Coach since 2000, I facilitate private sessions, workshops and groups that harness the healing power of your imagination and creativity. (Yes, you ARE creative.) My clients are veterans suffering from PTSD and substance abuse; adults and teens with depression, low self-esteem and other mental challenges; professionals, entrepreneurs and caregivers struggling with burnout; overwhelmed moms, sons and daughters caring for aging parents; students side-lined by stress and anxiety; people grieving a loss; and artists of all genres feeling stuck or blocked. But you don't have to be "artistic" to benefit; our time together is more about the process than the product. www.atimeforart.com
As Louisville Metro's first Certified MnemeTherapist, I also use the arts to help individuals with Alzheimer's Disease, Autism and Autism Spectrum Disorders, Huntington's Disease, Lewy Body Disease, Parkinson's, Multiple Sclerosis, Traumatic Brain Injury, stroke survivors and other neurological dysfunctions. Through a process involving singing, movement, directed painting, storytelling and praise, clients and/or their caregivers report improvements in memory, communication, socialization and sensorimotor skills. And each time they come to a session, they experience the reward and satisfaction of creating a beautiful painting!
